Silver plated item - signs of ageing
Lot 522 - Old silver plated Victorian teapot by Jams Dixon & Sons 1881
This beautiful and fine oval-shaped silver-plated Georgian teapot produced around the mid-1800s by James Dixon & Son, active at Silver Street Works, Sheffield and with a showroom in London.
This beautiful teapot with gorgeous hand-engraved decorations
Featuring an ornate spout and a sliding handle, the teapot has a grooved body and well engraved decorations that recall a Greek key with a detailed and charming finish. The handle has a wrist rest and two ceramic inserts to prevent the handle from overheating.
Without significant dents, it has some superficial signs due to age and normal use, as one would expect.
Branded on base with the mark of the manufacturers 'J D & S' under the trademark 'Trumpet maker EPNS'. The figurative trademark Trumpet & Banner (trumpet) was registered in 1881.
