Beautiful ‘Mende Volksontvanger’ type VE301 from 1938

Offered from a private museum a ‘Mende Volksontvanger’ type VE301Dyn(W)-1938. Radio is in fine, playing condition. Very nice shiny bakelite cabinet without crazing or cracks. Beautifully clear tuning scale. Has MG (150-350 kHz) and LG (500-1500 kHz). Radio tubes: RGN1064 / RES164 / AF7 Scale lighting: 4 volts, 0.6 A. Dimensions: wide 27.3 cm, high 31.5 cm, deep 18.5 cm. A ground connection and three connectors for antenna. Is equipped with an ‘Entbrummer’ (rear), which by rotation reduces or removes any hum of tube RES164. The ‘people's radio’ was the first electronic mass-medium in Germany and gave the National Socialists the opportunity to make propaganda by broadcasting speeches of Hitler and Goebbels. The radio was therefore popularly referred to as ‘Goebbels-Schnauze’. Type designation: VE = Volksempfanger 301 recalls 30-1-1933 (the day that the National Socialists seized power). DYN = (electrical) dynamic speaker W = alternating current The radio was manufactured so that only near (German) country channels were received but hobbyists could also hear channels of the enemy (BBC). However, this was strictly forbidden and punished with prison time (at the time of purchase, a card was included which explained this). Embossed in the bakelite front of the radio (left and right) is the German Eagle with swastika (censored) and also on many radio components such as tube cap, speaker, reel and variable-capacitor. Documentation, instruction manual (copy) is included. Registered shipping.
