Citroën - C4-G1 Plateau ridelles - 1933

Citroën C4-G1 flatbed pick-up truck from 1933, in good overall condition. This vehicle was, in the 30s, the "all-purpose vehicle" of the Draguignan hospital in the VAR department in France. Used by maintenance staff and gardeners at the service of the nun nurses, it was used for both miscellaneous supplies and waste disposal. In the 60s, it was offered to a Parisian entrepreneur who, having acquired a vast property in this arid corner of Provence, was ambitious to grow grapes. He never used this small truck and, preoccupied by other matters, abandoned it in one of the annexes of his domaine. Discovered by its previous to last owner in derelict but intact condition in a barn on the property of a secluded vineyard in the Cotignac region, it was brought to Belgium under unbelievable conditions. An expedition was conducted in 1987 by members of the Rétromobile Club de Spa who, at the end of a 1100km trek, had to clear 3km of abandoned road to access the wreck buried beneath the straw. After a risky loading with makeshift ramps and an improvised winch, the truck made its way to Belgium. By the greatest of luck, an identical vehicle was discovered in the Lyon region on the way back, Completely disassembled and patiently restored, thanks in particular to the contribution of some parts from the second vehicle, it regained its state of origin in 1989 after more than 1400 hours of hard work. Today, after a long exposure to the sun, "blisters" have appeared in the paintwork. A new paintjob is to be expected. The woodwork is still very presentable. The interior is impeccable. The engine runs, the truck drives. The 6 tyres are new. The photos reflect the condition of the vehicle perfectly and are an integral part of the description. Please take a good look at them prior to placing a bid. This vehicle can be viewed in Namur, Belgium. Transportation and/or exportation costs are not included in your bids unless otherwise stated. It is recommended to view the vehicle prior to placing a bid in order to avoid any disappointment. Please contact Catawiki to arrange an appointment.
