Collection of 5 Roman bronze phalerae. This type of phalera was used by Roman cavalry soldiers as decoration of the horse harness or shoulder belt (baldric). Picture 13 shows a similar phalera found in England. 1) Diameter is 4.6 cm; height is 1 cm; weight is 33 grams. 2) Diameter is 4 cm; height is 1.5 cm; weight is 32 grams. 3) Diameter is 3.6 cm; height is 1 cm; weight is 20 grams. 4) Diameter is 3.5 cm; height is 1 cm; weight is 23 grams. 5) Diameter is 3.3 cm; height is 0.6 cm; weight is 14 grams. Condition: see pictures for a personal impression. The supplier warrants this lot was obtained legally. It concerns items from my private collection, which were purchased around 1987 from an old European collection. Will be sent by registered mail. Important information: For transport within the European Union, no export license is necessary for this lot. Because of the importance of this object, an export license must be requested when shipped outside the European Union. This should be done via the heritage inspection of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science. This can only be done after the sale and may take some time.
