The front shows the glorification of Jesus on the mountain in the presence of Moses and Elia (see Matthew 17). The depiction on the back refers to the resurrection (see Matthew 28). Uitgeverij Van Goor published a valuable and colossal illustrated bible in 1855 (13 kilograms). This bible was dedicated at the time to Sophia Frederika Mathilde [1818-1877], Princess of Württemberg and Queen of The Netherlands since her marriage to King William lll in 1839 and is therefore known as the de 'Sophia bible'.
