German Walther LGR Match .177 Calibre Side Lever Target Match Air Rifle wit the original diopter The German manufacturer Walther LGR introduced the side lever target air rifle in 1974 (see page 103 of the Air Gun Book By Walter). In the early 70s while FWB, Diana, and Anschutz were manufacturing and designing recoilless 10M springers Walther went in a different direction. Even while refining their LGV into the LGV Special series, they shocked the competition by introducing an entirely new concept in 1974, the single stroke pneumatic LGR model. Immediately after its introduction, the LGR broke both the individual and team 10-meter world records. It has a beautiful left handed oil polished stock with curved rubber butt pad. It has the correct Micrometer Diopter rear target sight and full ring foresight. It has a fine adjustment match trigger and the underside of the stock has a steel rail. The barrel is stamped 'Walther LGR Cal 4,5 Walther's Patent 8269 F'. It has a beautiful uniquely contoured stock with attractive grain, stippled pistol grip and underside stock section.
