The author was born in 1715 and died in 1791. Jesuit, left for China where he rendered numerous services to Catholic Church. He also devoted himself to the study of plants, having collected rare species. The literary work we present was the first scientific work on the botanical flora of Cochinchina. The plants described were collect in Goa, Mozambique, and Cochinchina. The author covers the following themes: “Classe I Monandria Monogynia”; “Classe II Monandria Monogynia”; “Classe III Triandria Monogynia”; “Classe IV Tetrandria Monogynia”; “Classe V Pentandria Monogynia”; “Classe VI Hexandria Monogynia”; “Classe VII Heptandria Monogynia”; “Classe VIII Octandria Monoginia”; “Classe IX Enneandria Monogynia”; “Classe X Decandria Monogynia”; “Classe XI Dodecandria”; “Classe XII Icosandria Monogynia”; “Classe XIII Polyandria Monogynia”; “Classe XIV Didynamia Gymnospermia”; “Classe XV Tetradynamia Siculosae”; “Classe XVI Monadelphia Triandria”; “Classe XVII Diadelphia Octandria”; “Classe XVIII Polyadelphia Icosandria”; “Classe XIX Syngenesia Polygamia Aequalis”; “Classe XX Gynandria Monandria”; “Classe XXI Monoecia Monandria”; “Classe XXII Dioecia Monandria”; “Classe XXIII Polygamia Monoecia” and finally “Classe XXIV Cryptogamia Filices”.
