In 1850, brothers Marc and Emmanuel Didisheim created a watch workshop at Saint-Imier, right in the heart of the Jura-Arc, the birthplace of Swiss watchmaking, before going on to create Marvin watches. Saint-Imier boasts a long watchmaking tradition. The first timepieces were fashioned there as far back as 1720 and the pace picked up from 1770 onwards. At the time, most watchmakers made only individual watch components, often gold or silver cases, delivered to finishers in la Chaux de Fonds or Le Locle.
This military-style MARVIN piece is beautifuly preserved. With a 35 mm steel casing (not including the crown), two-tone khaki dial, painted numerals, and a seconds' hand at 6 o'clock. Steel snap back, signed movement with 15 jewels, 565 calibre, works perfectly, serviced for the sale.
Khaki strap, 20 cm long not including the pin buckle.
Careful registered shipping.
