The car was driven from 1966 to 1984 in the United Kingdom and sold in Germany in 1984.
A student wanted to rebuild the car here. To date, there have been 4 owners including the German buyer.
I purchased the car/restoration project on 02.07.1987 in Aachen.
From 1987 to 1998, the car was completely rebuilt, first by myself and then by a specialist company in Cologne (1993–1998)
Renewed registration since 05/1998.
Since then, it has been permanently approved as a summer and garage vehicle.
The vehicle received a new chassis, fully galvanised, sealed inside, and painted with a zinc-based protective coating. A partial new basic body.
The mechanical parts were renewed or revised. The engine, gearbox and differential were overhauled. Renewed brake system. The electrical system was partly renewed (harness, relay), revised light elements. The car was also built as a right-hand drive like the original.
The instruments have been renewed. Odometer reading on the miles speedometer, overhauled and set to zero. Currently, the speedometer reading is < 9,100 miles.
The dashboard was redesigned and painted several times.
The body was restored and painted in the original colour – old English White. Completely new interior, black and seats in the original colour black. Leather seats with white leather ribbons
Newly restored chrome parts. Sealing materials and all new cables.
The vehicle had/has an inspection once a year.
Next German inspection in 2020
Differences between the original version:
- Seats in leather
- Front bumper of the TR4 (TR4A horns; the brackets were converted to TR4/TR4A)
- Steering wheel with a smaller diameter
- TR4 fuel pump (replacement for the vulnerable TR4A petrol pump)
- The rims are powder coated
The vehicle is accident-free and approved for road traffic.
