The painter Manuel Blesa, from Teruel, had to fight to develop his passion for painting. From a young age, he was obliged to earn a living with several jobs: he worked as a barber, as a waiter, and he also learnt the craft of restorer of antiques. He studied painting with Alejandro Cañada in Zaragoza, and with Revello de Toro in La Llotja in Barcelona. His career began when he worked as portraitist between Sitges and the Canary Islands. Finally he settled in Sitges together with his wife and children. It was in this corner of the Mediterranean where Manuel Blesa was inspired and started to develop his painting. The main subjects in his oil paintings where the fields of his Aragonese land and their inhabitants. Manuel Blesa’s painting evolved towards another fase where he painted ceramics.
