TCM - air first - MANCINO - Men - 2000-2010

TERRA CIELO MARE AIR FIRST wrist watch TCM, an acronym for Terra Cielo Mare, was founded in 1999 by Emilio Fontana and Giorgio Lattuada, renowned experts in the field of watchmaking and importers, in the 1970s, of the main Swiss brands. The base of the design is the idea of associating Swiss mechanics and movement with a design that is clearly of Italian identity, and making each watch a tribute to an event or person who left their mark on the history of our country. The watch is clearly inspired by the 'Big Pilot's Watch' lines of IWC (even if the specific 'aviator' models tend to be very similar in various models of many cases) and it takes its style from the same, proposing an absolutely superb structure, enhanced by the 'bullseye' sapphire crystal which amplifies the effects of the beautiful workmanship on the dial. 47 mm diameter, large winding crown at 9 o'clock (designed for use by a left-handed person), small seconds hand at 3 o'clock, transparent sapphire caseback through which you can see the Unitas 6497 calibre, the bridges of which are also detailed with 'Côtes de Genève' adornment: The caseback sapphire is printed (on the inside) with the outline of the S. M. 79 airplane, an aircraft used by the 205th 'Squadriglia da Bombardamento' (Bombing Squadron) of the Italian Royal Air Force, belonging to the 41st 'Gruppo BT' (Bombardamento Terrestre) of the 12th Formation placed in the 3rd Air Squadron. This squadron is also known as the 'Green Mice', a name which has its origin in a phrase that Colonel Attilio Biseo (who commanded the squadron) would have pronounced in virtue of the extreme trust placed in the new aircraft (the S. M. 79, in fact) that the Squadron itself would soon have been equipped with them. And the Squadron took on three green mice as its symbol. Going back to the origin of the expression "show the green mice", it seems that the saying sinks its roots in what was the symbol (a green mouse) of the Roman Legions whose specific task was to eradicate the riots that broke out against the Empire. Returning to our TCM, it is the three green mice, symbol of the 205th, that appear on the watch face, with absolutely top quality workmanship. Steel case diameter: 42 mm. Seconds sub-dial at 3 o'clock. Brown leather strap, length 260 mm, width 22 mm. Very good condition (see photos). In perfect working order. Insured shipping.
