Josef Anton Stocker Micro mosaic Crucifix - Composite
Late 19th century (1890/1895) Italian micro mosaic, from the Grand Tour period. Superb work depicting 4 famous attractions, such as the Vatican and St. Peter's square at the top, on the left the Papal Basilica of St John of Laterane, on the right the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore and at the bottom St. Paul outside the walls. The Christ figure is present but loose (to be attached with a screw). Marked on the back: Stocker. Otherwise in good condition.
