Mercedes-Benz - 250 CE ex George Harrison - 1970

Mercedes 250 CE (C114) - chassis 11402222008880 - formerly owned by George Harrison This metallic red 250 CE is the first Mercedes coupé that the guitarist George Harrison (1943-2001), member of the legendary group The Beatles, owned throughout his life. It is a very special vehicle since it was in hands of the Harrison family for nearly two decades: first registered in his father’s name, Harold Heargraves Harrison; later, between 1979 and 1981, the musician himself was the owner, and finally it was property of his cousin, Paul Harrison. On August 1989, Christie's auctioned off the Mercedes and it was awarded to a record businessman from London. Just one year later, the car arrived in Barcelona to be auctioned again at the “Feria del Disco del Coleccionista”. Although it did not get any bids, an important record store owner paid its price and acquired it for his private collection, where it has remained for almost thirty years. The car is virtually original (it was repainted once in its original colour), and is kept in very good condition, with 89,000 miles on the odometer. Its 6 cylinder in line and 2.5-liter engine runs smoothly, as well as the automatic 4 speed gearbox and the disc brakes. It has power steering and power brakes, central locking, sliding roof and power antenna. It just needs a tuning, since it has not driven regularly for quite a while. The body is basically healthy, it only has some minor scratches and worn spots, normal for a car with a life of almost half a century. After having spent nearly half of this time in the United Kingdom, it might have some rust spots on the undercarriage (although Waxoil protector has been applied on the chassis). The interior is really well preserved, with some normal signs of use. The vehicle can be seen and collected in Barcelona (Spain) and is sold in the described condition. The sales invoice and notarial document are delivered as ownership title. The seller can provide several quotes to prepare the vehicle according to the new owner’s taste, which can vary from a tuning to a complete restoration, but these are not included in the price of the offer.
