Franco d’Aspro - Capo Tribu
Franco d, Aspro (1911-1995) was born in Piedmont Italy and studied art in Bologna and Naples. In 1939 he opened a bronze workshop in Villamassargia on Sardinia.
During the second world war, he began to make a name for himself as a bronze artist and in his special outdoor atelier he introduced many Italian artists to a multitude of styles like neoclassical art, realism, symbolism and Futurism. The Nuraghe people, a bronze age people from 1900 until 700 BC., were a very important inspiration source for him. This statue of a Nuraghi chief is also based on the Nuraghe people. Today his statues can be found all throughout Italy and also in the National Gallery of Art, Washington
