Headdress and skirt for the Dassanech girls' dance, in leather and bottle caps, Authentic headgear of the Dassanech girls, or Galeb, who live in the south of Ethiopia in the Omo River Valley to the borders of Lake Turkana. Their economy is mainly based on livestock breeding and in recent years and they are also dedicated to agriculture and fishing; their houses are dome-shaped.
The headgear, which is also worn as a kilt or thong during the dances, is made of goatskin, with cylindrical beads and on the edge are set many caps of beer and Coca cola bottles, which tinkle during the dance and still constitute an original ornamental motif.
Acquired during a journey in the Omo valley.
