The painting is made by an unknown artist along the style of the work by Johan Meijer, who was born in 1885 in Amsterdam. The painter was, among others, pupil of A.M. Gorter. For seven years he was his assistant, helping with cleaning brushes and repairing canvas. He then went to Paris and Brussels to study.
In 1912, he moved to Blaricum and since then he chose the Gooiersgracht as his favourite subject. He painted the trees and water in any weather circumstances. Mostly birch and willow trees. He had a very great fondness for trees, his own garden looked like a forest.
Condition: good.
Framed in wooden frame.
Signed: bottom right.
Edition: original.
