This unusual piece was designed by Karl Tutter (1883-1969) in the 1930s. for the porcelain firm Hutschenreuther. It is another example of his fine modelling celebrating beauty, vitality and exuberance with a young woman, perhaps Circe herself, accompanied by lithe and beautiful leopards whose movement has been beautifully captured by the sculptor.
The piece has the company marks, Hutschenreuther Selb, Germany, Kunstabteilung, with green lion oval. A rare piece, which seldom comes to the market and is hardly ever seen without some damage. This piece is intact and in very good condition,
