The pinnacle of nostalgia: a very authentic VW T1 Pick Up built in 1961. From the USA, where it was delivered to Steven Costa by VW dealer Gardner Motors in Fresno via the harbour of San Francisco. For years, Steven used this T1 at his vineyard and it wasn’t until 2002 that he sold the car to Angel Diaz from El Paso, Texas. In October 2012, Dean and Helena Suhr from Catalina, California, became the lawful owners of the car (which was still unrestored at the time).
These owners wanted to restore the car into perfect condition and decided to replace its original grey colour for cheerful red/white. Little welding needed to be done, for corrosion never got a chance in the dry climates in which the VW had worked up until then
They also performed some modifications. The most prominent being the currently mounted and much stronger 1600 cc engine and disc brakes on the front axle.
This T1 drives great and will be delivered including an official VW Zertifikat, photos, history documents, old ads, etcetera. So it is unique in terms of history and condition, and incomparable to many others.
This VW T1 unleashes a great deal of nostalgia from its passengers, but also among other drivers on the road, this is why this car is also highly suitable for promotional purposes.
