Tom Poes postcards copyright & Edition: De Muinck & Co Amsterdam 1942
Right from the start in 1941, Tom Poes became immensely popular and puzzles, figurines and cards were also made.
In 1942, Toonder made new versions of the first 8 stories, this time in colour, with 6 beautiful scenes for each story. These were made into postcards illustrating and telling the story. The 6 cards were packaged in a paper wrapper that indicated which story it contained. In total, 8 sets were published:
This is the sixth set (original wrapper and 6 postcards) of “Tom Poes en Het verdwijn-eiland” (from c. 1942!). The wrapper is original (unique!) and the 6 original and uncirculated postcards are authentic and in fine condition. The verso is addressed and stamped and was circulated.
