The offered painting (oil on canvas) shows a rural scene on a river with a farmer and a cow. A village with a church is depicted in the background. Figure 1 shows the whole painting with its gold-plated frame. Details are enlarged on images 2 and 3 in order to better see. Image 4 shows the handwritten signature of the artist in the lower-right corner painting. Image 5 shows the back of the painting. On picture 6 a small sticker (enlarged) can be seen from Kunsthandlung Wissing in Bocholt, which is the art shop that framed the painting, and where it was purchased. Image 7 shows the painting with the frame from the top. A small damaged spot, which can be seen on image 8 in close-up, can be found above the frame. Image 9 in particular shows how thick the frame is (6 cm). The German painter Fritz Mühlen from Rheydt, lived from 1906 to 1981. He studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Krefeld, as well as at the Düsseldorf Academy, and belonged to the circle of artists around Mutter Ey. Study trips have taken him abroad. His landscape paintings were auctioned off at several art auctions.
