Germany

Object: Very rare WW2 ship lamp (Starboard lantern)
Material: Steel
Estimated Period: First half 20th century
Country of Origin: Germany
Condition: Fair condition - heavily used & with possibly minor parts missing

The lamp is manufactured by the firm Franz Schilbach Stettin and is numbered (81596).
This company was established in 1868 and has produced ship lamps in the German port city of Stettin until the end of the second world war .
This heavy galvanized ship lamp is in an unrestored condition. This will give the lamp a tough, industrial look.
The fresnel lens is intact without any damage or cracks and nice and clear.
The lamp is 560 mm high (including carrying handle 620 mm).
The width of the lamp is 300 mm and the depth is 240 mm.
The dimensions of the lens are 190 x 140 mm
The lens is engraved, HMW 27720 and the year 31/3 43. So the lamp is 75 years old!
The green front glass is missing and also the oil burner is no longer present.
The lamp can however easily be converted to 230 volts.
The weight is no less than 5.7 kg.
A unique "collector's item" of which I still haven’t found a second copy with these dimensions.
German ship lamps from the second world war are fairly rare.
The bottle of port (75cl) is shown to indicate the size and is not included in the sale The photos are an integral part of the description of this lot.

Le lampade non erano integre ! Erano tutte mancati di pezzi alla base e non conformi alla descrizione .
Piuttosto che in acciaio sono in metallo leggero tipo alluminio .

I am sorry to hear that the lamps do not meet expectations. However, the description clearly stated that the interior of most lamps were missing. This is clearly visible on the photos. I do not share the opinion that the lamps are not made of steel. A magnet provides quick confirmation!
