He was a follower of the famous Louis Apol. Apol is best known for his winter landscapes. Apol's work can be found in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, the Singer Museum in Laren, the Teylers Museum in Haarlem and the Gemeentemuseum Den Haag. Hermans also often painted winter landscapes, but never became as good and well-known as Apol was. Hermans lived in Eindhoven. H. Hermans’ paintings all date from around the 1930s.
