Triumph - Spitfire 4 MK1 Cabriolet + hardtop - 1963

Don’t let this opportunity pass and become the new owner of this unique Triumph Spitfire convertible! This is an auction WITHOUT RESERVE PRICE. The Triumph Spitfire is a sports car produced by the British car manufacturer Triumph. The car was meant to be brought on the market under the successful Triumph TR series. Compared to the current development phases, the development of the Spitfire was particularly short. The first prototypes were ready in early 1962. The practical tests were completed at the end of the summer and in October 1962 the Triumph Spitfire was already introduced on the London Motor Show. The Spitfire 4 Mk1 is named after its 4-cylinder engine and its first design. Due to the tax adjustment, its price was set at 641 pounds in 1962. This made the car a lot more expensive than its competitor, the Austin Healey Sprite, which was priced at 587 pounds. However, from the beginning, the Spitfire scored higher in terms of appearance, equipment and power. The price difference remained across the total lifespan of both designs; nevertheless, more Spitfires were sold from the beginning compared to competitors Austin Healey Sprite and the MG Midget. This Triumph is in an original condition (engine and transmission are all original). The car starts immediately, shifts smoothly and powerfully through all gears, idles nicely and brakes properly. In the past (up until now), this Spitfire underwent a lot of maintenance, for example the exhaust, shock absorbers, springs, fuel tank and many other small parts were replaced. What makes this Spitfire unique is its very rare hardtop, which is offered virtually never. Triumph Spitfires in this original and good condition are increasingly difficult to find. Especially the early production 'chrome-low grill' series MK1 is hard to find. So don't wait too long and become the new owner of this unique British classic.
