Painter, graphic artist, typographer and draughtsman.
Martin Engelman was trained in various schools: de Amsterdamse Grafische School, de Middelbare Kunstnijverheidsschool and de kunstacademie van Sankt Gallen (typography and composition) in Switzerland. He subsequently worked in England, France, Italy, the United States and Switzerland, among other countries.
Engelman has collaborated with Klaas Gubbels in the Netherlands, among others. His work has been diagnosed as surrealistic, abstract and expressionistic.
From 1964 he worked exclusively autonomously.
He has also taught at various academies in Germany and the United States.
