Borek Sipek - for Driade: Les Folies "Alix" cutlery - rare - 42 pcs. Cutlery in 6 original cutlery rolls

Borek Spiel, a Bohemian artist who died in Prague in 2016, developed a breathtaking and opulent neo-baroque design language called "LES FOLLIES" in collaboration with the Italian design company DRIADE in the 1980s. For auction from the series, “ALIX”,is a 42 piece cutlery set for 6 people, which was used very little. This silver-plated cutlery consists of: 6 dinner knives (approx. 24 cm) 6 dinner forks (approx. 24 cm) 6 table spoons (approx. 24.5 cm) 6 dessert spoons (approx. 21.5 cm) 6 dessert forks (approx. 19.5 cm) 6 coffee / teaspoons (ca. 15.5 cm) 6 fruit / cheese knives (approx. 19 cm) 6 original red cutlery rolls for safe storage, can be tied with red ribbons. Each piece of cutlery is individually designed. The end of each cutlery handle is shaped differently and bears the Driade hallmark on the underside (example photos 20-22). A knife bench is incorporated in the knives. They can easily be placed upright (photos 10-12). The shape of each piece is born from precise ergonomic templates, beyond the sensual and aesthetic. The knives have heavy handles that conform to the principles of mechanics, and the spoons are designed for the amount and density of liquids they are meant to hold. The forks have linear or curved handles, depending on whether they should lift or scoop the food. This series was produced for a long time. Especially after the death of the designer Borek Sipek, parts of the series can only be bought at international auctions, and prices are going up. This cutlery for 6 people in its current condition, including the red cutlery rolls, is a rare opportunity. The colour in the photos may be affected by lighting conditions. The photos are part of the description Worldwide insured shipping with a reputable shipping company and tracking number. When shipping to the Canary Islands, the British Channel Islands, Madeira, or the French overseas territories, the designated shipping costs will increase by €15. The buyer bears the risk of shipping.
