A fine strip from the Matho Tonga series, made by Hans G Kresse, the Rembrandt of Dutch comics.
Published in 1953 in the Belgian magazine "De Zweep".
At that time, Hans Kresse’s most famous creation, Eric de Noorman, was highly successful in many countries.
Later, 2014, published in the 4-part series of publishing house Julius de Goede. The book is not part of this lot.
The speech balloons were edited for a French edition.
Kresse was able to create atmosphere and characters brilliantly with simple tools such as Indian ink in black and white.
Matho Tonga strips are rarely offered.
