On offer: a complete and in original condition Russian jet fighter pilot’s helmet set (LSK-LV MiG-21). Used in the early jet period of the 1950s on board of amongst others the MiG-15, MiG-17, MiG-21, and also the Sukhoi-17. This is the outer helmet with sun visor and the leather aviator cap with built-in headset, the corresponding oxygen mask and a throat microphone with leather case. Special about this beautiful pilot’s helmet is that it has been used by a former fighter pilot who flew from the LSK-LV Trollenhagen (Neubrandenburg) air base in the former GDR. This Flugzeugfuhrer flew to the JG-2 (Jagdfliegergeschwader 2) with the name: Juri Gagarin (Russian Cosmonaut). Most pilot’s helmets that were used in the JG-2 at that time were painted bright orange, this due to the location close to the Baltic Sea and the many border monitoring missions above the sea. In case of emergency and / or a water landing, the pilot was easier to find at sea. Condition: the pilot’s helmet is in good working condition, the paint has some wear (see photos), but this just adds charm, the leather aviator cap is in good used condition (see photos), the oxygen mask is in used condition (see photos).
