Junghans - U-Boot stoppuhr / Torpedo-Uhr. - 29A - Unisex - 1901-1949

A Junghans Kriegs-Marine stopwatch, also called a Torpedo/Artillerie-stoppuhr This sort of stopwatches was used on torpedo boats and submarines to calculate the distance a torpedo had travelled when it detonated or with the ship's artillery the time between firing and impact, to calculate the distance. Thereby they could adjust the timer for the following torpedos and grenades. This one counts 1/10th of a second and the small second hand can count till 30 minutes. The second movement carries on to 60 sec. In fine condition, runs and switches well. On the rear there is a navy stamp, here part of the stamp is still visible. Each Kriegs-Marine ship and submarine had them (see the list at the last photos). The swastika, present in the photos, has been worked over. It also has an extra protective case.
