Jingasa, samurai hat - Bamboo, Rattan - Japan - 19th century
I put on auction an uncommon jingasa samurai hat. The jingasa (lit. "camp hat") was a type of hat worn by Japanese warriors when traveling or encamped.
Made of black and red lacquered rattan stripes tied around bamboo circles.
In quite very good conditions for its age, a scratch on the edge and one on the inside showing how the jingasa was made, see the pictures.
Size is around 32x7cm.
Period is mid 19th century.
Will be sent with tracked parcel.
