Sachs Tango - Design vouwfiets - Foldable bicycle - 2002

Bike is in very good condition! Everything works, no defects! Below is a story about the bike from the media. In 1997, Springtime, a Dutch design agency, created a folding bike prototype called the "Tango" and joined the European Bicycle Design Contest - Visions 2000, held in Milan. A jury consisting of cycling journalists from all over Europe chose the Tango as the winner. A company was formed, Urban Solutions BV, to produce the bicycle, but repeated production delays led to the company filing for bankruptcy. In 2001 improvements were made to the original prototype and Sachs, a German company, took over production and introduced it under their brand on the market. Around 2002, Volkswagen took over the production and sold it under their brand as a "Tango Car Bicycle". Despite the innovative design, the relatively high price ($ 1300.00 USD) and the heavy weight (20 kg) resulted in poor sales and production stopped. The Tango had a polyurethane-coated frame, elastomeric front and rear suspension, 16" cast aluminium wheels, Shimano Nexus 4 gear hub, drum brakes, integrated lighting and folding pedals.
