Height 14 cm Width 13 cm Depth 5 cm It is one of the most famous Greek images; the diskobolos or discus thrower, manufactured circa 450 BC by the Attic sculptor and bronze caster Myron of Eleutherae. The original bronze statue that presumably stood in Delphi or Olympia was lost, the most beautiful sculptures made of bronze were often melted down later. Fortunately later Roman copies were made.
