Beautiful multi-coloured alabaster/marble bust of Giuseppe Bessi, 1857-1922, Italy.
Depicting a very detailed and romantic "Jeanne D'arc".
Made late 19th century.

Bessi is known for his sculptures of famous figures Mozart etc.
Signed with G. Bessi which means that this from his early days.
Later works by him were signed with Studio Professor G. Bessi.

The sculpture is in exceptionally good condition, has always stood in a non-smoking space, so the colours are still beautiful and fresh.
Slight signs of use to the base, which are negligible, but I wanted to mention them.
Dimensions: 23 x 11 x 23.5 cm.
