Stunning, beautifully detailed Gothic clock with Japy Fils movement, with mark medaille d'argent 1844–1849. The clock has twelve blue cartouches for hour markers.
In very good condition, runs fine, comes with pendulum of later date and key.
Fréderic Japy was the founder of the clock and watch factory Japy frères en cie’, Beaucourt, France. He was both a clockmaker and an inventor. The company was at the top of industrial timepiece manufacturing.
The timepieces by Japy are considered to be the top-notch quality of industrial French timepieces.
