S. Franke, Lou Loeber - Gouden vlinders - 1927

Gouden Vlinders Illustrations by Lou Loeber (1894-1983), poems by S. Franke Great piece. Rare and worldwide sought illustrated book, representative of the new movement in the (applied) art from 1920. Characteristic are the geometric shapes and primary colours. The edition has 18 page-large illustrations. This book is also unique because of the ad (not by Lou Loeber) on the back. Lou Loeber was abstract, non-figurative painter, draughtsman and illustrator. In 1927, the year in which this book appeared, Lou Loeber worked at Bauhaus in Dessau. Her neighbour in Blaricum was Bart van der Leck, member of the group ‘De Stijl’. Originally a vulnerable book. Condition: good. -Paper band slightly discoloured with two old-age spots - Spine is not complete - One illustration (‘Het regende’) with tear through image, restored on both sides with acid-free archive tape. (see the last photos). - One illustration (Sneeuwpret) with crack in the margin, restored with acid-free archive tape. (see the last photos). - Light offsetting of the illustrations on the text pages. Extremely rare, virtually nowhere offered worldwide. Will be packaged with care, shipped registered and insured.
