In France in the 18th and 19th centuries ornamental fruits - pumpkins - were used for all kinds of decorative items and utensils.

This item is a drinking bottle dated 1774 of a certain Captain - Mr Decoral - of the 2nd Infantry Regiment of Picardy.
The front of the bottle has the coat of arms of the family of the captain.
On the back we find the arms of France on a decor of flags and cannons. In the centre the French crown with beneath it the French lily and image of the French King.

To the 2 sides images of a grenadier and a dragon.

The regiment of Picardy was the oldest regiment of France.
