France - Merieux a Saint Etienne - Grande paire de pistolets d'officier Consulat/ 1er empire - infanterie - silex transformé a percussion - Gun - 17,5mm

Pair of big combat pistolst time Consulate / First Empire, Antoine Mérieux punches (master arquebuisier and gunner in Saint Etienne 1780/1820). Mérieux worked with Lepage, and with Boutet On an attached photo is a pair of pistols signed Boutet and the barrels bear the mark of Mérieux, as those to sell; the butt and the fittings are the same...manufacturing of the same workshops. Merieux provided weapons to renowned... arquebusiers, who then signed them. Weapons of very large sizes, imposing. The barrels are blunderbuss at the end, the butts with straight corners in the taste of the Consulate and the Empire. Operation of the locks is impeccable, and arming is still perfectly functional... One of the butt is glued in the past, this is almost not visible. The hammers are of time, but are not original (Flintlock weapon). The barrels are smooth, (regulatory bullet of 17.5 mm), they are mounted with hook on false breech, characteristic of weapons with neat manufacturing.
