This type of helmet was originally produced by the French company Roold in Paris, and many countries copied this type as aviator helmet.
The Netherlands, Italy, France even Germany wore this helmet in Ww1.
This first model didn’t not yet have ear flaps, this version came later 1915.
You had them in brown canvas, but there were also countries that painted it black.
Ernst Udet in his book MEIN FLIEGERLEBEN, posted a picture, in which he carries this model aviator helmet, which he had captured.
