Pioneer - PL-61 - Belt Drive Transcriptor Turntable

Pioneer PL-61 vintage seventies belt drive top model. Very rarely offered audiophile top player of studio quality. Fully original with arm and dust cover in beautiful condition. The beautiful walnut console has some signs of aging, but that does make it any less beautiful. The first owner has installed a brush with glue on the left front of the deck and forcibly removed it at a later stage, which has left behind residue. The handle of the dust cover has a small bit of damage on the right. The PL-61, the top model and the PL-50, 1 step lower, were equipped with the best arm Pioneer could make at the time in 1972. This arm has magnetic anti-skating control, similar to the TP-16 top arm by Thorens. It is this technical feature that was the Achilles heel of these turntables for a long time, so audiophiles rather looked at Garrard, Marantz and Thorens. The arm has a plastic part which is needed for anti-skating. This part perished to dust after 25 years and could not be replaced for a long time. With the advent of the 3D printer, this is now history, see the last 4 photos. The white part is designated by the blue pen. The arm works perfectly again and turns out to be top class. The combination with the good Grado cartridge is balanced with room for upgrading. The mechanics run quietly and precisely. Dimensions: 50 x 20 x 43 cm Weight: 11 kg. Manufactured: 1972 - 1977 Hofkamp & van Droffelaar: Specialists in vintage HiFi and analog camera technology with their own technical service. Will be packed with great care and sent by registered mail. sent against the best possible rate.
