A very nice and sleek looking French double barrel hail gun, calibre 16 central fire, only black powder.
External cocks and bracket crop have an ornate curly execution.
The test bench marks on both barrels are of the French St. Etienne, hallmark from 20 April 1879. The weapon is a percussion system (period 1810-1870) professionally converted to the central fire system and then approved on the test bench of St. Etienne. The letters J.G. of a French inspector are visible between both barrels.
The double Lefaucheux closure has a patent from 1858. The age of the weapon is between 1810 and 1879.
Beautiful walnut butt with fishbone processing.
Weapon is checked and approved by a Dutch license holder who then issued an official exemption certificate and decision diagram.
