Gerrit (Ger) Dekkers (1929) has always had a fascination for the Dutch landscape and his clean lines drawn on the drawing board. In the 1960s, he travelled throughout the country on behalf of publishers of photo books. In this way he developed his own view of the landscape in which he was looking for alienation. After his photographs were noticed in 1969 by Wim Beeren, curator at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, Dekkers was part of Ateliers 6, an exhibition for new development and young talent in the visual arts. With this exhibition he entered the world of visual art with his free work. His national and international breakthrough took place a few years later.
