Brick tea was transported directly from China to Russia, Turkey and Tibet, and hence is hardly known in the West. The tea was transported over land using horses and camels, and thus it was essential to package the tea as compactly as possible. The tea was compressed into tea bricks for transportation. The importance of these bricks was enormous, as these also acted as currency for a long period of time.
This tea brick (a gift from 1977) was very well maintained and is in beautiful condition!
With this brick, you'll take a wonderful piece of old Chinese culture into your home!
