Zenith - réveil montre de poche " GANDHI " - Men - 1901-1949

ZENITH Pocket watch/Chronograph Called GANDHI. Steel case. The watch is in working order and was serviced by a watchmaker. It is in very good condition. Diameter: 47 mm Height: 66 mm including the bale Thickness: 16 mm In 1914, the ZENITH factory, which bears the name of its founder, earned its place in the field of quality watches and movements with complications. The alarm watch was established in 1915 as an iconic model of the ZENITH collection. The chime is obtained by a hammer which strikes on an isolated stamp of the body. The sound is clear and musical, which differentiates it from several pieces from the time with less expensive chiming systems that were also less pleasant to the ear. The alarm pocket watch that faithfully accompanied GANDHI in his travels is one of the many models bearing the history of the watchmaker, a rich history of 144 years of watchmaking know-how in the service of timekeeping. Georges Favre-Jacot, founder of the Watchmaker in 1865, believed in the universality of the distribution of the watches he manufactured. Travelling around the world to promote his collections, he carried across borders a unifying message based on sharing the right time. To live together, people need to coordinate, and time is a universal value that unites them across all divides. The alarm pocket watch was born from the spirit of sharing that makes men travel and leads them to live together in harmony day and night. With this watch, ZENITH offers the perfect alarm watch that is no thicker or voluminous than a classic pocket watch. The dual-function crown very cleverly moves the movement in the usual direction from left to right. In the other direction, it ensures the power reserve and the alarm. The case is endowed with two adjustment buttons on both sides of the crown. The button on the right allows the setting of the time and the one on the left allows the setting of the alarm time that a counter located at noon can confirm. Several types of dials are known. Those in enamel painted with luminescent radium to be readable at night date from the early 1920s. The second hand is classically located at six o'clock as it is on most pocket watches, so that the dial remains ventilated and the user is in no way bothered when reading the time. The model was a very fashionable gift until the end of the 1930s where it was prominently featured in catalogues. Watch sold with original box (acceptable condition, showing some wear marks, doesn't close properly, inform yourself in the photos). No documents. Shipped via Colissimo for France and tracked parcel post for international delivery.
