Very beautiful artwork by the famous Dutch painter Henk Bellaard. Oil on canvas and in good condition. Dordrecht 1896 - 1975. The painter Henderik Johannes Bellaard started his education in Dordrecht with M.P. (Rinus) de Reus. He taught him drawing, working in watercolours and painting still lifes, landscapes and cityscapes. He was taught by M. Adamse in the art of drawing portraits and watercolouring landscape and still life. During that time, Bellaard made many copies of the great masters of the Hague School. In the 1920s, he lived in Utrecht and came into contact with fine artists as Karel van Seben and Annie Borst Pauwels. He has been a member of the 'Studietekenclub' in Bilthoven and joined the art society 'Het Krijtje' in Utrecht in 1934. Henk Bellaard started his work as a decorative painter for companies. For example, he made decorations for the R.R. Bruijnen in Rotterdam, produced drawings for the Caran d'Ache factories in Geneva and designed tourist prints from Holland for Damall in Texas (US) and Ken Ross in Alberta (Canada). In 1939, in collaboration with some other painters, he provided the decorations for the parade on the occasion of the centenary of the Dutch Railways. He made a diorama for the Philips factories in Eindhoven. He also worked for the Koninklijke Fabriek Inventum, the advertising agency Hypsos and the Abee company. For De Werkplaats in Bilthoven he made twelve paintings that were reproduced in a calendar. He has participated in various group exhibitions. He exhibited in i.a. Amersfoort, Dordrecht, Utrecht and Bilthoven. In 1975, an overview exhibition was held in Zeist. Henk Bellaard was appointed as a teacher at the Vrije Academie Artibus in 1947, but had been working as a teacher at the Stichts Genootschap Artibus since 14 April 1943.
