Good condition with no folds, tears or stains. On laid paper trimmed on palte border.

Dirk Stoop (1610 - c.1686)
Battle painter and etcher, worked in Utrecht. Etched series of horses in 1651. 1659 to Portugal, where he was associated with court at Lisbon; he painted a portrait of Catherine of Braganza, Infanta of Portugal, in 1661. A version of this was sent to London as part of the negotiations for a marriage between Catherine and Charles II. In 1662 he accompanied Catherine to London. He remained in London until 1678, when he returned to Utrecht.
