Created during the chrysanthemum craze of the 1890's. In his book Keika painted only the rarer specimen. Keika made pre-Raphaelite art known in Japan and influenced European art nouveau The chrysanthemum or kiku, is the official flower of Japan and the seal of the Imperial family of Japan, as well as the insignia on every Japanese passport. The chrysanthemum is celebrated by the Japanese during the annual Festival of Happiness held in November.
