Possibly Justine Louise "Juus" Hartman (1905-1970). Beautiful oil painting on canvas of a forest lane from the Veluwe area near Lunteren where her father had a holiday home, "the Rommelpot" built, and she spent many vacations with her two children. "Juus" Hartman is a Dutch painter born in Semarang / Java and lived and worked in Semarang, The Hague, Amsterdam and for some time in Italy. She studied at the Academy of Visual Arts in The Hague and received lessons from Tjieke Roelofs-Bleckmann and Henk Meijer. Worked as a painter, draftsman and watercolourist, mainly of landscapes and cityscapes, and made illustrations for books including for W.F.Hermans with whom she was friends. She is the sister of painter Wibbo Hartman and the mother of the ballet choreographer Toer van Schayk. She was a member of the “Onafhankelijken” in Amsterdam and the “Pulchri Studio” in the Hague. Is mentioned in Rkd, Scheen-lexicon and Jacobs. Painting is in the original frame. Both the painting and the frame are in good condition. Dimensions: 50 cm x 40 cm. With frame: 59cm x 49 cm.
