Kawasaki - ZX-4 - ZX400G - 400 cc - 1989

Very rare Kawasaki ZX-4 f3 (ZX400G). 398 ccm liquid cooled 4 cylinder, 59 kW @ 12000 rpm. Dry weight 159 kilograms. Roadworthy 174 kilograms. The ZX-4 or ZX400 G has only been produced for one year (mid-1988 to mid-1989) and was exclusively intended for the Japanese market. Only a very limited number of copies reached over time to various places in the world. And only a handful in the Netherlands. Probably this ZX4 is still the only one in Netherlands around. Due to the short production period, the total number of built motorcycles of this type is already small anyway, but in the Netherlands it is completely a unique motorcycle. Especially nice for a collector. But also for those who want to hit the road with a very special motorcycle. Characteristic of this type is the so called E box frame. Made of aluminium. Light and stiff. A progressive frame for that time. The famous big brother, ZX10, also had an E box frame. The ZX-4 is packed in the typical style of the 80s. Fully continuous cockpit work containing all the lighting. This copy is optically and technically in a very good condition. Built in 1989 and first registered in 1990 (in Japan). In 1996 he was brought to the Netherlands. Made in a beautiful (and in the original) colour scheme. The white lacquer has a mother-of-pearl effect. Besides the exhaust damper, the bike is still completely original. Exhaust silencer is a bolt-on by Yoshimura and gives a pretty big dark sound. Possibly easy to replace for a Kawasaki damper. After 30 years some small traces of use: pit in the tank, butt is repaired and therefore has two visible but not very noticeable scars (see pictures). Further optically really nice. The technical condition is good. Two things need attention: the front fork lift sweats a little and occasionally it takes a few seconds before the engine (e.g. when stopping in front of a traffic light) falls back to the correct key speed (first falls back to +/- 1250 rpm, after a few seconds back to 1000 rpm). I expect that cleaner in the tank and a long trip will solve this problem. Engine runs very nicely, sounds healthy without background noise. This motorcycle only covered 22,000 kilometres. Wear parts such as brakes, chain, gears and tyres are in excellent condition. Everything functions properly. Also the whole electronics and lighting. No booklets/maintenance history. Because very few ZX 400 G's have been produced, it is difficult to find cockpit fairings. Other parts are not a problem because the ZX-4 is technically closely related to the ZXR. A spare CDI unit specifically for the ZX-4 is included. Google for ZX-4 f3 or ZX400G and find out how rare this model is. This ZX 400 G is number 804. A lot more aren't made of it. Unique motorcycle, unique opportunity! With a valid Dutch license. I do not know whether the motorcycle can be registered in other countries. This motorbike can be viewed and picked up in Doetinchem, The Netherlands. It is preferred that the lot will be picked up. Shipping within the Netherlands (except islands) are possible (starting costs 50€ in addition to 0,25€ per kilometre from Doetinchem v.v.). European transport is possible, please ask Catawiki for transport costs. Prior to bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration.
