Anne Frank - Het achterhuis - Amsterdam, Contact, 1947 - IX, 253 pp - Cardboard binding with dust jacket - approx. 10 × 20 cm.
With a portrait photo of Anne Frank, 2 photos of the secret annex, a floor plan and 2 facsimiles of the original diary.
With loosely added a letter from the publisher, with typed text added and signed by Otto Frank, the father of Anne and the only member of the family that survived the Holocaust.
“Anne Frank's diary is too tenderly intimate a book to be frozen with the label ‘classic,’ and yet no lesser designation serves. For little Anne Frank, spirited, moody, witty, self-doubting, succeeded in communicating in virtually perfect, or classic, form the drama of puberty. But her book is not a classic to be held on the library shelf. It is a warm and stirring confession, to be read over and over for insight and enjoyment” (Meyer Levin, New York Times Book Review, 15 June 1952).
With a note on the half title, Anne's portrait has come loose, there is some space between the title page and the endpaper, the fragile dust jacket is of course damaged, especially at the top of the spine (see photos). Overall a fairly good copy with a dust jacket that is in surprisingly good condition.
