Weight to weigh the gold (8) - African bronze - Akan - West Africa

Dimensions and weight of the smallest one: 19 mm x 17 mm x 13 mm and 17 grams; 21mm x 19mm x 8mm and 26g. the largest: 33mm x 23mm x 7mm and 51g; the crocodile: 87mm x 41mm x 20mm and 60g. Total weight : 318 g. Formerly in Africa, barter presided over small purchases. However, regarding important purchases: fabrics, salt, copper, dried dates and figs, livestock, slaves..., the settlement was done with gold powder. These weights have diverse aspects: figures, daily life scenes, everyday objects, animals... or are simply decorated with geometric patterns symbolising water, fire, time... All of these objects are crafted following the ‘cire perdue’ (lost wax) technique, except for certain mouldings, like for the insects. Shipment via express parcel with track and trace (Colissimo expert).
