Trained at the Royal Academy of Fine arts in Antwerp, where he was a student of Franz Courtens, most of his work consists of views of rural landscapes and cities of the Belgian Flanders, mainly Bruges, Mechelen, Ghent and Antwerp, but also of Zeeland (Netherlands) and of France. He was often inspired by the cities of Mechelen and Bruges, their beguinage, their canals and their picturesque little streets. The pictorial production of Julien Célos, contemporary of the Luminism, presents some of its influences.
